Currently, Florida Statute 322.095 requires first time driver license applicants to complete an approved Traffic Law and Substance Abuse Education Course, or complete a Department of Education approved driver education course before issuance of a driver license by the Division of Driver Licenses. The Traffic Law and Substance Abuse Education Course focuses on traffic education, substance abuse education, and DUI laws. Applicants applying for their restricted or operator’s driver license must complete this class prior to receiving their license. After registering, completing the course and passing the final exam, your completion will be transmitted electronically to the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles, due to the fact that the Department no longer accepts paper certificates. After passing your final exam, please click on the following link to verify that your completion was successfully transmitted to the drivers license office. Enter only your date of birth and the last four digits of your social security number.
